Voting Question: Baby Abandoned in Apple Valley, CA?

Some (proably) young mother gave birth to a baby and then abandoned it on someones door step with the umbilical cord still attached. The news says that authoritites are "searching" for the mother. .... WHY???... I thought we encouraged these women to leave their baby at a church, fire or police dept. in lieu of killing it.... like the newborn that was found several months ago that was tossed into someones back yard....what do you all think, should they look for the mother?...
